Residents of the Majdal Shams settlement protest against Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights

Residents of the Majdal Shams settlement located in the territory of the Golan territory seized by Israel held a protest against the Israeli occupation of their homeland.
They compared Israel with the thief who stole Golan from Syria, and US President Donald Trump, who recognized Israel’s right to the occupied territories, is a liar who justifies the actions of the criminal.
The protesters held the flags of the Syrian Arab Republic and the portraits of its president Bashar al-Assad. This is not the first such protest by the residents of the city, who did not renounce Syrian citizenship, despite all the efforts of Israel. By their actions, they seek to draw the attention of the international community to the problem of the Israeli occupation of the Golan.
The annexation of the Golan Heights by Israel is not internationally recognized.
UN Security Council Resolution 497 of December 17, 1981 considers this area a part of the Syrian occupied territories. The annexation was also condemned by the UN General Assembly in 2008. In official documents of the UN, the territory of Israel controlled by the Golan is referred to as «the occupied Syrian Golan».
